A Scottish made luckenbooth brooch dating from the early 2000s, in excellent condition with no damage and only the lightest signs of age.
The luckenbooth is one of Scotland’s oldest love tokens. The name comes from the locked booths that once lined Edinburgh’s High Street near St Giles, where the brooches were sold from the sixteenth century onwards. Traditionally they were given as a betrothal or wedding gift, with the heart standing for love and the crown above it for loyalty and fidelity. Many families then pinned the brooch to a newborn’s shawl for protection, so the same piece often passed down through generations.
That history makes it an unusually meaningful gift for someone you cherish, whether for an engagement, a wedding, an anniversary, or simply as a keepsake with genuine Scottish heritage behind it.
